Stanford’s Roger Kornberg in his laboratory. Kornberg received the 2006 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for determining how DNA's genetic blueprint is read and subsequently used to direct the process for protein manufacture. Starting in the early 1990s, Kornberg studied this transcription process at SSRL's Beamline 9-2 and 11-1.
