Physicist Persis S. Drell joined the Stanford faculty in 2002 as a professor and director of research at SLAC. She worked on the construction of the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope before being appointed deputy lab director in 2005, working with fellow Deputy Director Keith Hodgson and Lab Director Jonathan Dorfan. She was named lab director in 2007.
